Emmanuel Adebayor: Clint Dempsey Won't Lose Job After Togo Star Returns

The return of Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham Hotspur is imminent when theAfrica Cup of Nations comes to a close, but his replacement, Clint Dempsey, won't lose his job to the Togo star.
And if you thought the American was going to just lie down and let Adebayor take his spot with the Tottenham side, you're dead wrong.
Here is what Dempsey had to say about Adebayor's return, per the Metro: "Ade is a great player and he is going to be missed, but there is competition. You try and fight for a spot and when you get an opportunity to play you take advantage of it."
Dempsey speaks the truth when talking about making the most of his opportunity with Tottenham. The 29-year-old has proven to be a stellar player and a key addition to his club.
In 27 matches with Spurs, Dempsey has netted seven goals and has been scorching hot recently after finding the back of the net five times in his last seven appearances.
Dempsey also proved to be clutch for Tottenham after his match-tying goal againstManchester United on Sunday. There's no doubt the American star has made a serious impact with his new clubBy comparison, Adebayor has scored just three times in 18 matches for Tottenham, so it's abundantly clear who will help this team more moving forward.
The fact that Dempsey has remained with Tottenham the entire season is also helpful to his case for keeping his job. Chemistry is a key component to the success of any squad and leaving Dempsey on the field on a consistent basis will help ensure this side's cohesion stays intact.,+ and he won't be pushed aside so easily as a result.
If Adebayor was to become a substitute for Tottenham full-time, that would also give the club another weapon to bring off the bench. Granted, Adebayor isn't the player he once was, but he can still be an asset late in matches as a fresh pair of legs for the Spurs.
Dempsey is just playing too well right now for Tottenham to make any kind of switch once Adebayor returns. It would be in the best interest of the club to keep Dempsey where he is while Adebayor comes off the http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1497388-emmanuel-adebayor-clint-dempsey-wont-lose-job-after-togo-star-returns
